A pep talk is a motivational speech or an expression of encouragement and confidence. It's usually given to someone who needs some inspiration, especially before they are about to face a challenging situation such as a competition, examination, performance, etc. The purpose of the pep talk is to boost the morale and self-confidence of the person or team being addressed, in order for them to perform at their best.
